What To Expect As A New Patient

Step-By-Step Details

Below is an outline of each step in our process. However, at LeMay Chiropractic & Wellness, you’re the boss! Whenever possible, we will make modifications to respect your likes and dislikes. Our main goal is to help you live your life with as much energy and functionality as possible.

Step 1 - Initial Exam

At least two business days before coming in, our new patients complete two very detailed forms online: 1) a Body Systems Survey and 2) a Confidential Health History. This is the only time so much paperwork will be asked of you. It will be well worth it because it gives Dr. LeMay lots of information and the time to study and learn as much as he can about your history and what brought you to your current state of health.

In-Office Nutrition Exam

The Nutrition Exam is 90-minutes long. These days, doctor-patient face-to-face time is getting shorter and shorter. But at LeMay Chiropractic & Wellness, we have made our initial visit even longer. Dr. LeMay gathers a great deal of your valuable health information, which allows him to get to know you in detail.

Before sitting down with Dr. LeMay, Michelle will take you through several Functional Exam Tests (ZYTO scans, Tanita scale, zinc taste test, and oximeter).

Then, Dr. LeMay will discuss your Top 5 Main Concerns (taken from your Body Systems Survey) and go over your health history. During the exam, Dr. LeMay will ask if you are open to both Western and Eastern techniques so he can tailor the assessment to your comfort level. The physical assessment consists of traditional exam procedures (blood pressure, nitric oxide, etc.) and functional exam tests (belly palpation, pupillary light reflex, Murphy’s Sign, Ragland’s test, oral pH, vagal tone, and Chapman’s Reflexes). If you answered “yes” to using Eastern techniques, then Dr. LeMay will also check acupuncture points, do muscle testing and energy testing if time allows. If there is anything obvious to start you on right away, Dr. LeMay will let you know and will make supplement, diet or herbal recommendations. If any labs are needed, Dr. LeMay will order them for you – see Section #2 below. Allow 10+ minutes after your Exam to meet with Michelle, who will make sure you have any supplement schedules and lab requisitions, if needed. Please note that although you will have paid for your exam in advance (when you scheduled), if labs or supplements are needed, that is an additional fee that is set by the outside vendors or lab companies.

Michelle will confirm your Report of Findings appointment before you leave.

REMOTE Nutrition Evaluation

The Remote Nutrition Evaluation is 90-minutes long. These days, doctor-patient face-to-face time is getting shorter and shorter. But at LeMay Chiropractic & Wellness, we have made our initial visit even longer. Dr. LeMay gathers a great deal of your valuable health information, which allows him to get to know you in detail.

Even though you will not be IN our office for all of our exam procedures, we will still be able to do one of the most important tests, and that is the ZYTO Biosurvey scan.

Once you have completed your forms, scheduled and paid for your appointment, we will ship a loaner ZYTO hand cradle unit to you. NOTE: You must have Windows 7 or newer on your laptop or desktop computer to run the remote app. It is not MAC or mobile phone compatible.

Approximately 15 minutes before your appointment, Michelle will call you to make sure you have downloaded the ZYTO Remote app on your computer and that the hand cradle is connected and you’re ready to go. She will start the first scan. When that is finished, Dr. LeMay will get on the phone with you.

After the other scan(s) are done, Dr. LeMay will discuss your Top 5 Main Concerns (taken from your Body Systems Survey) and go over your health history. If there is anything obvious to start you on right away, Dr. LeMay will let you know and will make supplement, diet or herbal recommendations. If any labs are needed, Dr. LeMay will order them for you – see Section #2 below. Allow 10+ minutes after your Evaluation to talk with Michelle, who will make sure you have any supplement schedules and lab requisitions, if needed.

Please note that although you will have paid for your evaluation in advance (when you scheduled), if labs or supplements are needed that is an additional fee that is set by the outside vendors or lab companies. Michelle will confirm your Report of Findings appointment before you hang up.

One to two days before your Report of Findings appointment, Michelle will email you the written ROF for you to review. That should give you plenty of time to read and understand it and be ready to go over it with Dr. LeMay during your appointment.

Be sure to write down any questions for Dr. LeMay or Michelle to answer so you feel comfortable moving forward.

Once you’re done with your appointment, you’ll want to box up the loaner ZYTO hand cradle unit and send it back with the prepaid shipping label.

Within 1-2 business days after we receive it and functionality has been confirmed, you will receive your $300 security deposit back. If there are any issues with the look or use of the unit, we will contact you immediately to resolve.

Chiropractic Exam

The Chiropractic Exam is 60-minutes long. As you can tell by the amount of paperwork, Dr. LeMay gathers a great deal of your valuable health information which allows him to get to know you in detail.

The physical assessment consists of traditional exam procedures (blood pressure, pupillary light, tendon reflexes, Murphy’s Sign, range of motion, orthopedic tests, and pain palpation) and functional exam tests (Ragland’s test, oral pH, vagal tone, and Chapman’s Reflexes). If any X-rays or labs are needed Dr. LeMay will order them for you – see Section #2 below. Depending on your history and exam findings, Dr. LeMay will determine if a chiropractic adjustment is advisable at this time. The additional fee for that is $55.

If there are any obvious deficiencies, Dr. LeMay will recommend appropriate therapeutics, diet or herbal remedies to start you on right away. Allow 10+ minutes after your Exam to meet with Michelle, who will make sure you have any therapeutics, X-ray or lab requisitions, if needed. Please note that although you will have paid for your exam in advance (when you scheduled), if X-rays, labs or therapeutics are needed that is an additional fee that is set by the outside vendors or lab companies.

Michelle will schedule your Report of Findings appointment before you leave.

Tips to get the most out of your Initial Visit:

  • We encourage you to bring your spouse/partner or a friend with you. It helps to have an “extra pair of ears.”
  • Please email/bring in all lab work within the last 12 months or any significant lab work in the past.
  • If you know that you are going to want a certain type of X-rays or advanced lab test, consider getting it done BEFORE your exam – just talk to our office and we can get it ordered for you or discuss other options.

You can read more about the tests available HERE. If you are unsure if you need a certain test please ask the office or just wait until your exam. Dr. LeMay is very selective about only ordering tests that are necessary.
