Good Health is Within Your Reach!
What level do you want to take your health to?
Many people first come to us for pain relief. After symptoms and pain are reduced healing can begin. Regular chiropractic care can help maintain your progress and avoid a relapse. Periodic chiropractic check-ups can help catch new problems early. This can minimize the severity of flare-ups. Those who value their health often take this proactive approach.
Being Your Best
Simply put, we experience our lives through our nervous systems. That’s why optimizing our spines and nervous systems is the key to becoming all that we can be. Chiropractic care and other healthy habits create new possibilities.
Rehab Exercises are One of the “Healthy Habits”
What is Rehab?
Rehab is a series of individually prescribed stretches and/or exercises designed to correct any areas of spinal weakness that can be done at home, the office, a health club, or even when you travel.
Why do I need Rehab?
Simple. To prevent a relapse of your condition, which is painful and expensive. And to be better than you were before, which gives you the greatest amount of return on your investment. This is not a one-size-fits-all program. Each exercise program is specifically designed according to your F.C.E. test results. (see below)
What is an F.C.E.?
A Functional Capacity Evaluation, or F.C.E., is an exam that is composed of 25 individual tests designed to measure a patient’s strength, endurance, balance, flexibility and range of motion for the neck, back and lower extremities. It usually takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Your results are matched with standard tables of other people similar in age, gender, and occupation. Your first F.C.E. is used as a baseline for establishing your program. At the conclusion of your program a follow-up F.C.E. is done to measure your progress and need for any future care.
Is it painful?
Generally no. Patients are not allowed to participate in a Rehab Program until they’ve reached a level of care that is safe for them to try more strenuous activities. Some patients have experienced slight muscle soreness after the F.C.E. or early Rehab sessions. This is comparable to starting a new exercise program and is only temporary.
Is your Rehab the same as Physical Therapy?
No. One of the benefits in receiving Rehab at our office is that Dr. LeMay knows your condition, does the testing, and personally trains you throughout your entire Rehab program. The exercises are designed to support the correction of your spinal condition.
When can I start Rehab?
Everyone is different. Certainly someone in pain is not ready for Rehab. Once Dr. LeMay has determined that your condition is stable then an F.C.E. can be performed to determine the degree and type of Rehab exercises needed.
What kind of results can I expect when I’m done with Rehab?
Your results depend upon your goals and consistency in doing your exercises. We’ve seen patients reduce and/or eliminate their aches and pains, increase their ability to do their work and personal activities, and enjoy longer lasting results from their chiropractic care. Think of Rehab like the glue that holds your chiropractic adjustments in place.
